Tan Hock Seng
Operations Director, Johor Bahru
We had a cargo damage dispute that involved multiple parties and a tight timeline for the vessel arrest application. The Amaranth team moved quickly but never felt rushed — they kept us informed at every step and explained our options clearly. The resolution was far better than we had expected.

Nurul Aisyah
IT Manager, Kuala Lumpur
When our company discovered a data breach on a Friday evening, Sharon and her team were available within hours. They walked us through the notification process under the PDPA and helped us prepare communications for affected parties. Their calm, methodical approach during a very stressful period made all the difference.

Rajesh Kumar
Family Business Owner, Melaka
The succession planning process was longer than I initially anticipated, but looking back, the pace was appropriate. Khalid understood that our family needed time to discuss things among ourselves between sessions. The governance structure they helped us build has already improved how we make decisions as a family.

Lim Wei Jie
Shipping Manager, Pasir Gudang
I have worked with several maritime lawyers over the years and Amaranth stands out for the clarity of their advice. They do not bury you in legal jargon or hedge every statement. Rizal told us what the realistic options were, what each would cost, and what the likely outcomes were. That straightforwardness is rare.

Siti Fatimah
CEO, Technology Firm, Johor Bahru
We engaged Amaranth for proactive PDPA compliance advice before any incident occurred. They helped us identify gaps in our data handling procedures and drafted the policies we needed. It was a sensible investment that has since given us much more confidence in our data practices.

Ahmad Mukhlis
Managing Director, Kota Kinabalu
Our family business spans three generations and two states. Khalid helped us navigate a particularly sensitive succession discussion that had been stalled for years. His understanding of both the legal frameworks and the family dynamics — including our faraid considerations — was deeply impressive.

Port Authority Regulatory Dispute — Shipping Consortium
The Challenge
A consortium of three shipping companies faced regulatory action from a Malaysian port authority regarding cargo handling procedures. The matter threatened operational licences and involved conflicting interpretations of port regulations across multiple berths.
Our Approach
We conducted a thorough review of the applicable regulations, coordinated with the port authority's legal department, and represented the consortium's position through the regulatory appeal process. We also facilitated agreement between the three companies on a unified compliance framework.
The Outcome
Operational licences were retained, the regulatory action was resolved without penalties, and the consortium adopted a shared compliance protocol that has prevented further issues. The engagement lasted approximately six weeks from initial instruction to resolution.
Ransomware Incident Response — Mid-Size Enterprise
The Challenge
A Johor-based enterprise discovered a ransomware infection that had compromised customer records. The company faced PDPA notification deadlines, employee anxiety, and pressure from business partners regarding data security. The leadership team had no prior experience with incidents of this scale.
Our Approach
We initiated our rapid response protocol within four hours of being contacted. Sharon Lim coordinated with the company's IT team on evidence preservation while our team assessed notification obligations under the PDPA. We drafted external communications and prepared internal briefing materials for management and staff.
The Outcome
Notification to affected parties was completed within the required timeframe. The company's communication to customers was transparent and well-received, and no regulatory penalties were imposed. Post-incident, we helped the company strengthen its data handling policies and incident response plan.
Multi-Generational Succession — Manufacturing Family
The Challenge
A second-generation manufacturing business owner wished to transition the company to his three adult children, who held differing views on the company's direction. The situation was complicated by Islamic succession requirements and the involvement of extended family members with minority shareholdings.
Our Approach
Khalid Ibrahim conducted a series of facilitated family sessions over four months, allowing each family member to express their priorities. Concurrently, we designed a governance framework that addressed both faraid obligations and practical business management needs, including a shareholder agreement and family charter.
The Outcome
The family reached consensus on a transition plan that distributed management responsibilities based on individual strengths while ensuring equitable ownership under Islamic succession principles. The governance framework included a family council mechanism for resolving future disagreements. The plan was fully documented and executed over the following two months.
